The Bilbo Who Became a Monk! - But Only For Two Nights!

Brian Spence is the wild man of Bilbo! Everybody's heard that he once shaved his head for a dare - but did you know that he once became a temporary monk, too?

"I was into Kung Fu and religion a while ago," he told us. "So one day I decided I'd like to have a go as a monk in a monastery - to really get away from it all!

"My first shock came when I found they charged £1.65 a night for visitors. You signed in as if you were in a hotel! Put me off a bit that did.

"And then on my first night I was woken up by a bird's voice whispering 'Oi! Gerroff!' and giggling! You wouldn't believe it, some of the monks had brought some birds in for a spot of kissing 'n' cuddling!

"I was really shocked and left after a couple of days. I'd wanted to become a monk to get away from girls and fun and be all religious - but those monks seemed to be having a wilder time than us lot out here!
